Bud is a rescued puppy suffering a spinal injury. See the improvements made within just a few months of using the Spero harness and hydrotherapy!

The Spero harness is designed to aid your dog should you find yourself in a position where your dog has;

  • Arthritis

  • Cruciate ligament injuries

  • Hip or elbow dysplasia

  • Spinal injury

  • Degenerative myelopathy

  • or anything that makes them limp and requires support

The word 'spero' in latin translates to ‘ I hope’.

The Spero harness was first introduced in 2012 and since been trailed with hundreds of dogs before finally launching to the public in 2021. The reason this harness was developed was solely to help the founder of Quincysdogs to help assist his three legged Newfoundland as his dog aged.

The harness is designed with handles to the rear and the front. The main frame of the harness has been made from nylon exterior, neoprene interior for comfort and strong webbing. The aim of this harness is to assist your dog to having LONGER walks.

To allow for longer walks a human harness also comes with the dog harness.

To simplify how it all works, the human harness is worn across your shoulders. The aim is that your shoulders and legs take a small amount of your dogs weight from the dogs back legs... thus allowing your dog to walk further.

THE SPERO HARNESS HANDLES ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR LIFTING AND SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR LIFTING AS THEY ARE NOT REINFORCED... FOR THIS, CONSIDER THE GENX HARNESS.

Our Genx harness will also accomplishes the same as the Spero harness, however the GenX harness does not come with a human harness attachment. Apart from that, the GenX harness is a great allrounder dog rehabilitation harness and most of our customers feel this is a much better harness due to it being a simpler to put on and take off, can be left on for longer periods of time, and handles are reinforced for continuous lifting.

How the Spero mobility harness works best:

The way the Spero harness works is quite simple... you simply place the harness on your dog and tighten all the straps so that they are comfortable and secure. You then put on your own harness and adjust the straps to suit you. Finally, you attach the adjustable lead from the walker’s harness to the dogs harness to either the rear or the front, depending on your dog’s ailment.

The aim is not to totally take the weight off your dog, instead, to take around 30% of the weight off your dog’s legs. This would then allow the dog to walk further, enjoying the outdoors, plus more importantly, avoid deterioration of the muscles.
